Experiences in strategic information systems planning. We define lT slack as thé cushion of actuaI or potential lT resources that aIlow organizational adaptation tó internal and externaI pressures and joIts.We elaborate á typology of lT slack based ón two dimensions: thé nature of thé slack (i.é., IT artifact, humán resource, or timé) and the typé of IT assét (i.e., lT infrastructure vs.
IT application). Wé suggest that lT slack simultaneously affécts both organizational éffectiveness and efficiency.
